Don't we look fabulous?
Actually, these photos were taken in 2003 at my cousin Erin's wedding.
We look fabulous because these were taken pre wedding, pre pregnancy, pre Ella, pre mortgage, pre minivan, pre property taxes, pre plunging toilets, pre driveway that needs to be snowblown, pre lawn that needs to be cut, and pre plunging our own toilet (rather than having your dad do it).
We still have those gorgeous smiles and shining eyes (if I may be so vain) but as of week 36 there's no makeup, no jewelry and no clothes without stains.
I'm battling sciatica pains and the other day Rob tweeked his back rough-housing with Ella while playing Wolverine vs. Silver Surfer, so as of week 36 neither of us has such good posture.
We go to bed early (so don't call after 9pm) and sleep through to the morning but we still wake up tired, so our eyes are not as bagless as they are in these photos.
In 2003 we extravagantly traveled together to Chicago, Boston, and South Carolina. As of week 36, our most recent "extravagant" purchase was several hundred dollars for nearly two dozen new doorknobs that Rob installed throughout the house since there were too many near misses with little kids getting locked into rooms.
Don't worry, I'm not complaining. Despite the obvious differences between life then and now, I've never been happier. I absolutely can't wait to turn my family of 3 into a family of 4. Ella was the greatest thing that ever happened to us and I know we'll all feel the same way when we finally get to meet Little Guy.
