Growing the Nursery

While I've been hard at work growing the baby, Rob's been hard at work growing the nursery. Here's just a few steps in the process.
First, Rob removed the odd wooden paneling from one wall only to discover that unique brown and yellow plaid wall paper beneath it.






Next came fixing up the drywall, removing the sprayed-on chalk board, and priming over the odd shade of blue paint.










Once the walls were painted our favorite "spearmint shale" he moved onto sanding the hardwood floors- clearly an exhausting job.










With the restaining of the floors, it was finally starting to look like a real room.











Putting together the furniture was probably his least favorite part- I sat in a chair and offered "helpful" suggestions about how best to do it.

The finished product! Some things to note: the rocking chair was used by Rob's parents when he was a baby and the blanket draped over it was made by Rob's mom specially for CederBaby. The dinosaur marker holder on the bookshelf was made by Lisa's Grampa MacGregor before he passed away. The wooden bear puzzle was given to Lisa when she was a little tyke.

Yes, that is a Miami Dolphins mobile hanging above the crib! For the holidays I asked Rob for a crib mobile, and said he could choose whatever he wanted. Maybe next time I should state a preference!



At the base of the crib is a basket of blankets including the receiving blanket Lisa was brought home in, a blanket Grandmother Rybolt knit for her, and a quilt made for Lisa from pieces of her mother's favorite clothes.




Finally, the highlight of the nursery, the parade of animals Lisa's cousin Courtney painted on the wall above the changing table (where Batman lies wearing a teeny tiny newborn diaper. We don't think he likes it.)
