Practice Makes Perfect

Some might argue that Ella's too young to understand but ever since we got the exciting news that her Auntie Sara is due to have a baby this January, Ella's been increasingly interested in baby dolls.

I like to think she's practicing for the day when she gets to meet the new baby.


Her new baby doll carrier, which looks a lot like the newborn car seat that she had just a few months ago, is Ella's favorite accessory.

Ella seemed to think that her baby doll and carrier were also good practice for Auntie Sara.












Here, Ella's showing Sara how to cradle a newborn.











Here, she's showing Sara that the most convenient way to carry a baby is by tucking her neck into your armpit and dragging the body behind you (remember, not all advice new parents get is necessarily good advice!).

















Here's Ella's showing Franklin that babies also like to curl up and sleep on the lawn.












Ellal really zipped around the yard with the baby in tow.











She particularly liked getting Sara and my Dad to repeatedly, "buckle" (her newest word) and unbuckle the baby with the attached straps.











"Newborns are so light . . . "













Even though carriers are cool, there's still time to carry the baby by hand.












There's that strangle hold again. We'll have to work on that before little Baby Caruso arrives!
