A Few Thoughts on Exhaustion

Neither Rob nor I have ever really been the type to pull all-nighters, but this weekend we took our love of a full-night's sleep to the extreme. Even though Ella's a great sleeper and we have no complaints about our night-time sleep, we have definitely noticed how exhausting it is to be a new parent. In fact, we feel sometimes like we've discovered a whole new world of exhaustion where your eyes close automatically and your body wants nothing more than to curl up with a blanket.

This Friday night, the typical party night for many our age, is a perfect example. Shortly after Rob got home we had a pizza delivered. Dinner conversation was at a minimum because of our tired eyes.

Ella fell asleep as we were finishing dinner, so we put her to bed, got into our pjs. We got out a movie to watch but exhaustion won out. The whole family was in bed by five minutes after 8:00 and asleep shortly after.

Needless to say, we all felt fantastic on Saturday!

*Note- we used photos of Ella sleeping to illustrate this entry because neither Rob nor I are quite as adorable while sleeping.
