"There's room for everyone"

Ella's done a great job adjusting to life with Jack. The first night we brought him home, she had a meltdown, largely because I was sitting in the new comfy brown chair with Jack and she wanted to sit with us. We quickly realized that two's company and three's a crowd.















We had to establish a 2-person limit on the brown chair. We are very careful, however, to highlight that when Ella is sitting in the brown chair with myself or Rob, Jack has to wait. She LOVES telling Jack that he needs to wait for his turn in the chair; in turn, she is quite reasonable when it's her turn to wait for a snuggle in the chair.

To make the chair policy even easier, Rob started saying, "there's room for everyone on the sofa." Ella LOVES that. If one of us is sitting alone with Jack, she'll come along and say, "there's room for everyone, right?" If we're on the sofa or the bed, that's her cue to climb on up. If we're in the chair, then we'll move to the sofa to be sure there really is room for everyone.

Ella's also into, what she calls, "whole family hugs" when all four of us do a group hug.
