Usually, Rob and I try to encourage Ella's delightful habits and ignore or discourage the not so great ones. High pitched squeals are in the "not so great" category. She does it when she wants to grab our attention and she knows it drives us crazy! One at lunch, I buckled and ended up encouraging (and filming) this habit.
Ella let out a squeal and instead of ignoring it, I made a funny/open-mouthed surprised face. She thought it was funny and laughed. Well, there's nothing on earth as great as your own baby's laughter, so, I kept doing it.
I know it was counterproductive to encourage the squealing but I'll just have to hope she gives up the habit before she graduates from high school.
