Red, White, and Burp

Ella celebrated the 4th of July a few days early this year. We went to Sara and John's and met up with my dad and went for brunch at a local berry farm. Ella got to wear her most patriotic red, white, and blue dress and July 4th bibs (thank you to our friend Courtney for those!).
Ella is generally a calm baby and she played happily with Sara, John, and my dad while we were waiting to be seated and while we were ordering.

But then, she started fussing . . .

and then, crying . . .

and then, hollering. . .

and then, screaming as though we had taken her favorite toy and stomped on it.

That's when the five of us started the time honored tradition of pass-the-baby-until-someone-can-make-her-calm-down.

Aunt Sara had lots of luck with the "stand up" approach. My dad helped by passing Ella napkins and spoons to play with.

With everyone's help, Ella was entertained and Rob and I (and all the other patrons) were able to enjoy our brunch.

We couldn't help but notice, though, that people at all the other (screaming baby-free tables) got much larger servings of fresh berries than we did . . .

I think that you have discovered a new diet aid - crying baby - good for a ten pound weight loss when taken with all restaurant meals.
