Fun Firsts

Rob and I have been having a lot of fun with Ella, especially now that she's going through some fun "firsts."

Our current favorite is the first funny sound she makes- raspberries that she blows all the time now. Her favorite is to get a mouthful of milk and then make the "Pbt pbt pbt" motorboat/raspberry sound- spitting milk everywhere. It's really cute, but the spray makes everything sticky. The best part is that is makes us laugh like crazy, and then Ella laughs because we're laughing.

Another great first was the first time she picked up one of her toys.

I wish I could say that she used her hands with a surgeon's precision and delicately picked up the block with the grace of a concert pianist. Instead, she uses her pudgy hands like a pair of animated salad tongs, grasping the block and pulling it toward her mouth. I cheered so loudly I scared her and she dropped the block. (These blocks are by far her favorite toy).

Tummy time, playing on your tummy to improve body strength, is not going as well. She starts strong with her head up in the air, but she gradually slips down until she's just flat on the boppy pillow.
Although Ella can flop dramatically from side to side (picture a little pink fish on land), she'll have to do more tummy time before the first time she rolls over.
