He said he had an "interesting new activity" to do with Ella. He sure did! Look at what the two of them created while we were at the movies. Ella calls it her "playground."
In fact, they had so much fun making this playground that, when we got home at 9:45pm from the movie, Ella was still awake.
My sister, Sara, called around 9pm to see if Ella went to bed easily for my dad. She said to him, "how's it going," and he answered, "well, everything's going well. We're eating watermelon right now." Sara politely expressed that Ella should have been in bed at 7:30. My dad responded that he kept asking Ella if she was ready for bed and she kept saying, "no."
Sara reminded my dad that HE was in charge, not Ella. She suggested that Dad give Ella a 10-minute warning, then a 5-minute warning, then a 1-minute warning and then say it was bedtime. My dad decided to try that but there was one problem. Ella's pajamas had gotten wet from the 9pm watermelon so he tried to change her pajamas.
However, whatever pair of pajamas my dad picked out, Ella would say, "oh no, not those." She had a specific rejection for each pair. One pair was, "for the rain" and another pair was, "not okay".
We got home and Ella told us all about her fun evening then promptly fell asleep.
