The Runaway Gingerbread Baby

This week I went into Ella's school and lead a gingerbread activity with two of the classes. First, we read Jan Brett's "Gingerbread Baby" about a naughty gingerbread cookie who escapes from the oven and wrecks havoc.

Then, we made gingerbread cake and put our naughty gingerbread doll in charge of it.


Next, we drew pictures of the adventures we thought the gingerbread baby could have.

When we went to the check on the gingerbread cake, we discovered that the naughty gingerbread baby had disappeared with the cake.
The kids ran around like crazy looking for the cake and the gingerbread baby. Here's Ella explaining that the naughty gingerbread baby ran away.





We walked around the whole school looking for the cake and the gingerbread baby.











Here's the children searching. I like this video because Ella's (in the pink pants) friend Caleb (in the orange shirt) runs over and gives her a hug.





We finally found the gingerbread baby and a fully decorated gingerbread cookie (which Rob had prepared ahead of time for us in secret).

Eating the cookie was the best part.
